$221 Billion of Homes Are at Extreme Wildfire Risk - See Where
Though the risk of California wildfires this season has declined because of the sizable decline in drought area (see our blog here), the risk of wildfire will always be a concern. According to a new report from CoreLogic the total value of homes in the US that face an extreme risk of destruction from wildfires is $221 billion. As if that's not enough, an additional $318 billion are at high risk. The top three urban areas of extreme risk claim over half of the value and include:
- Los Angeles, CA
- Riverside, CA
- San Diego, CA
The next seven in the top ten, in order, are:
- Sacramento, CA
- Austin, TX
- San Francisco, CA
- Denver, CO
- Truckee, CA
- Oxnard, CA
- Colorado Springs, CO
The report is full of statistics and analysis that show just how extensive wildfire risk is and where the risk is.
