Airbnb is leveraging their platform to connect those in need with those who can help. Their program, called Open Homes, offers "free, temporary housing to people who've left their homes due to conflict, disasters, or medical care."
In the case of disasters, guests can be either people who have had to evacuate, or relief workers coming to help. For hosts, Airbnb provides screening, reimbursement for property damage, and 24/7 support.
It looks to be a great program, and one worth looking at - and preemptively signing up - in case you are temporarily displaced and also as host to help community members who may be in need.
