California Failed to Prevent the Carr Fire

Dozens of interviews and a review of records show that virtually every aspect of the blaze had been forecast and worried over for years. Every level of government understood the dangers and took few, if any, of the steps needed to prevent catastrophe.

This is a long read and a powerful article. Regardless of the conclusion you draw from this article, the simple fact is that completely relying on the government and governmental agencies to keep you safe is not worth the risk. The agencies themselves even urge everyone to prepare individually.
