Fortified - It’s Not Just for Toothpaste

Talk about taking preparation to a whole other level. The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is encouraging home builders and home owners to build to (or renovate to) “fortified” standards. These are standards over and above current codes.

Fortified standards take into account weather events such as high winds, hurricanes and hail and set out on a bronze, silver and gold level, building requirements in order to withstand the ever increasing power of storms.
