U.S. Drought Monitor and California Wildfires this Year
The drought monitor speaks volumes about wildfires. California has been fortunate in having no large wildfires this season to date. A significant part of the reason is the weather; it was wet coming into the season, and it hasn't been as hot as in the past. Interesting to us is that this time last year 89% of the state was abnormally dry, currently only 9% of the state is abnormally dry.
Following is the map from Sept 19, 2019. Hoping this trend continues.
