Put on Your Mask

Put on Your Mask

Those N95s are not just for communicable diseases. Filtering out particulates from wild fire-generated smoke is the job of a tight-fitting, quality N95.

"The wildfires produced the heaviest smoke and soot the region has seen in recent memory.  At these levels, this microscopic pollution becomes hazardous. Although the magnitude of the effects of this kind of pollution is still not entirely clear, studies show that it is linked to an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and serious lung damage." Los Angeles Times, 1/16/25

When outdoors, be sure to wear a mask. When indoors, turn off any mechanical device that brings outside air inside such as air conditioners. Place wet towels under door openings so smoke doesn’t enter your home.

The air quality in Los Angeles will get better once the fires are out. Until then, protect yourself and your loved ones.
